Gemma Ryder is our Company Director and Founder. They are a Certified Embodied Facilitator, coach, trainer, and mentor specialising in the complexities and responsible uses of individual and collective power, trauma-aware facilitation, and boundaries and consent as tools for thriving workplace relationships.

After 18 years of working in Marketing across the construction, charity, and publishing industries, Gemma has experienced time and time again how team dynamics and workplace culture far outweigh the most sophisticated strategies in terms of their impact on the organisation’s performance.
In their last corporate role as a Head of Marketing, Gemma implemented a pioneering Agile approach within the marketing function, creating a team that was responsive, collaborative, and outperforming others (whilst enjoying their work)! They were also heavily involved in the introduction and uptake of Employee Wellbeing initiatives in the company having trained as a Mental Health First Aider and Peer Counsellor.

Gemma initially set up Dare to Thrive as a way to meet the growing need for leadership training that goes beyond the textbook and straight to the heart of why highly skilled and motivated people struggle in positions of power (and why those for work them find themselves overwhelmed and stressed out by their work).

Gemma holds an MBA with a focus on creativity and followership in the workplace, and has undertaken a wealth of professional training including Embodied Facilitation, working with trauma, the Wheel of Consent, Embodied Ethics, the Right Use of Power, the neuroscience of change in coaching, and much more!

When they are not helping people to thrive in the workplace, Gemma also works with individuals who have experienced trauma or are coming to terms with different aspects of their identity such as gender, sexuality, and relationship orientation.
